BAMBI: A YEAR IN REVIEW

AS INDIE ROCK GROUP HIPPO CAMPUS WRAPS UP THE FINAL LEG OF THEIR BAMBI TOUR, WE TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT THE BAND HAS DONE THE PAST YEAR.

Before it had even hit shelves, indie rock group, Hippo Campus set off on what would end up being a year-long run of their Bambi tour.

Just days before the band’s sophomore album Bambi was set for release, the band began the first leg of the tour to promote the new album. Night after night, the band got on stage and poured their hearts into their new songs, and they gained an overwhelming amount of positive feedback.

After roughly a year in the making, the band put out the first single from the new album: “Passenger.” With a sound different from their past album, the song left fans eager to hear more. From the build up leading into the bridge, to the vulnerable sound of the outro, “Passenger” paved the way for one of the best alternative records of 2018.

“Golden” was the last song to be released prior to the whole album. A day-dreamy pop song that left fans in awe. It begins with lead singer Jake Luppen’s isolated vocals that swell into an upbeat feel good song. The song’s infectious beat and catchy lyrics will stick in your head for days.

On September 28, 2018, the long awaited album Bambi was released. The 10 track album is an indie masterpiece that speaks to the hearts of the band’s two million+ monthly listeners. From songs about dealing with anxiety and losing loved ones to simple feel-good indie pop songs, the album was one to be talked about.

Leg after leg of the Bambi tour, the band set out to give their fans an authentic Hippo Campus show experience and each night they did just that. The final leg of the tour came to a bittersweet end, on November 23, 2019. On social media and in line at their final shows, fans reminisced about the past year they had spent with the band and were proud and thankful for the tour’s namesake album.
